Who Is The Savvy Senorita?

Link to my page

Hello there fellow bloggers – I am Bex The Savvy Senorita.

I begun this blog many moons ago to provide a platform to share my writing with others (because I am just so thoughtful and sharing). I express, as candidly as possible, my thoughts, opinions and experiences. I like to engage and connect to my readers; hoping to stir within you a desire to interact, debate and respond.

Before we get started; some thoroughly useless information about me –

  • I constantly strive to learn more about the world; this may often be a wasted effort, but nevertheless I persist.
  • I certainly do love to talk, but also to listen and understand. Great conversation, learning something new and having the opportunity to express oneself can keep a girl sane.
  • I always look forwards in life as I don’t like dwelling on what I cannot change. Life is a learning curve; the experience we gain we absorb and take with us. Nothing is a mistake, everything has meaning.
  • Leading on from this; I do like to move onto pastures new. I like a challenge, and I want to do what I can while I can.

My topics:
Politics, thoughts, opinions, psychology, mental health, economics, gender issues, society, culture, trends, fashion and travel. I am no longer covering topics regarding Spain, as I no longer live in Spain.

I like:
Obviously writing, but not so obviously I LOVE to sing loudly. I have been known to do this anywhere, and at any time; not that I have some form of Tourettes or anything.

I actually like, well too many things to list here actually as I have an inordinate amount of hobbies (hate that word). Music, reading, languages, history, politics, psychology, architecture and all things art are my particular soft spots. I also like travelling about the place or places, and do consider myself to be somewhat of a gypsy’s dog. I love plays, live music, walking, dancing, cooking, clay pigeon shooting – not to mention being a lazy moo cow and watching TV show box-sets (confession: Breaking Bad was my obsession).

Life’s Little Essentials:
Having 4 or 5 good books on the go at any one time, and as I am a little bit too fond of violent and gory films (especially if gangsters or psychopaths are key characters); I love a good film too.

As I possess a disturbingly sweet, sweet tooth; homemade cakes rock my world! Yes, I am easily pleased. On the complete opposite of the spectrum I love sushi too.

Genuine and interesting people make communication worth the hassle; otherwise I’m happy enough with me time. No I’m NOT lonely, I CHOOSE to be alone.

As a Welsh native I have recently been rediscovering the Welsh language; yes, Wales has it’s own language (for those of you who live in a bubble). For some unknown reason I cannot get enough of Welsh folk songs.

Standing out from the crowd – always have and always will; just to be bloody minded sometimes.

I’d actually settle for just feeling content, not happy, but truly content with everything. It seems more likely that I will one day climb Mount Everest than this come to pass though; but as I’ve already stated I do like a challenge.

Take Aim and Fire:
Life maybe a bitch, but we as people don’t need to mimic it. Please therefore be kind if you choose to leave me a comment and reply to others; if not, then expect the expected, because I don’t tolerate bullshit even if you do.

A Random Ending:

Fun is a prerequisite to a fulfilled life (or maybe that should read; learning how to wreak revenge is a prerequisite to fulfilled life)??

Thanks, thanks and more THANKS for stopping by my blog, and of course reading all of this completely useless information about me. If any of this has spurred you onto wanting to read more (and I cannot see why not) then PLEASE DO SO! By all means leave me your witty and charming remarks, taking caution to be kind (as I’ve forewarned), and I will look forward to making new blogshpere connections.

Thanks again,
Bex  🙂

  1. i am so intrigued by your blog! it conjures up an image bizarrely similar to a painting i’m making–how cool :’)
a kind of odd question: are you a scorpio? i haven’t delved deep into your blog yet hehe

    • I didn’t realise the person who followed me, was in fact stalking you. I couldn’t have known that this was the case, not from reading one post of theirs, in brief. I considered that their post was an opinion piece, merely stating their opposed opinion to something posted by a company, and didn’t realise it was what you have described. Yet, to then contact me, with what I consider an accusatory comment on my blog, assuming wrongly by the way that I would favour hate campaigns, offends me greatly. If you took the time to read anything at all about me or my blog you would see that is not who I am or what my blog stands for. I however don’t wish to become embroiled in an online fight with anyone; just like you, I don’t blog for that reason. I am however sorry to hear of your plight, and hope that the matter will be resolved. Thanks for the info. All the best, Bex

  4. Hi Bex,

Thanks for sharing your story on my blog! It was really great.

I especially love and can fully relate to this (because I strive for the same!)
“I constantly strive to learn more about myself, other people and the big mad world – it is a constant, and intriguing mystery, but that is how it should be.”

Looking forward to your posts and learning more from/about you.

    Thanks,
    Nicolette

    • Hi Nicolette,

Thank you, but honestly it was my pleasure 🙂 I sincerely enjoyed reading your post!

Oh, thanks and glad you understand the sentiment of what I have mentioned here, as I often wonder if people reading truly do understand it! I am happy to find a kindred spirit, who is striving for the same as me!!

Thank you, and I too look forward to reading more of your posts.

      Thanks again,
      Bex

    • Thanks Michael, that is very kind of you! I am always happy to get feedback; especially the type that tells me that my readers enjoy my blog, and appreciate the topics I love to write about 🙂 Thanks again!

  7. Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for liking my post in my “My Fat Life” blog. Like the forthrightness and honesty of your blog. Best, Rose

  9. Just stopped by to say thanks for the “like” on the Saltwater Twin. I’ve just perused a little of what you have to offer hear, but I love your joie de vivre!

    • If you are interested then I have about 7 posts I have composed regarding Madrid – just check my archives, or look in the category of Madrid.
Thanks for dropping by mt blog, appreciate it!
      Bex 🙂

  10. What a diverse blog you compile! I’ve always believed that ‘life is a smorgasbord’ and meant to be lived to the vibrancy! It looks like you certainly do that! And by the way, thank you for tuning in to my post and liking one of my posts. Hope you come back again.

    • Many thanks for your kind comment Ellie!!! I do try to encompass all that I enjoy in life here in amongst my blog; and hopefully it does reflect my vibrancy!!! I also love to receive comments from readers too, that for me is SO important for any writer.
My pleasure, your blog has such good info – nutrition being another thing I am a little obsessed on!!!!
I shall, and please return to mine any-time.
      Bex 🙂

  11. I didn’t realize you were in Madrid! lol Well now I know and knowing is half the battle! 😀 Also I wanted to check the “Me” page out for possible inspiration for revamping my own “About Me” section. I think I have some more ideas floating around in this noggin. 🙂

Although, I might warn, Madrid Spanish is going to be rather different from the Spanish many Mexicans I know speak. You probably might already know that, but just in case, now you know too! XD

  12. You have one of the nicest WordPress.com blogs I have seen in a long time [and I’m a WordPress consultant!]. Keep up the great work, but most of all — enjoy your blog!!! If you don’t enjoy it, no one else will…

    • Hi Todd,

Many thanks for one of the nicest compliments my blog has received! I appreciate the appreciation of a WP consultant 🙂 That is something new for me!

Thanks, and I will; well, I hope to continue to anyway.

      Bex 🙂

  13. HI, Bex –

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I share your affection for coffee although I don’t drink it black. Since I started drinking it as a child – fully decorated with milk and sugar, I still drink it that way. BTW, coffee is good for you. Just don’t overdo it. But, of course, that is true of most things in life.

    • Hi Tony,

No problem; your blog is interesting, so naturally it caught my eye!! Thanks for the thanks though; which I return to you 🙂

Ah, good ‘ole coffee I love it!! The beauty is there are so many ways to enjoy it. Yes, I know, but I think I can over do it a tad. Moderation is sometimes absent from my vocabulary!!!

Thanks again, and hope you drop by soon!!
      Bex 🙂

  14. Living in Madrid has got to be the best way to learn the language Bex! I hope you’ll pick it up easily. Me? Oh I’me still having difficulty with English! LOL. Thanks for the visit and ‘like’ at one of my blogs, Minkyweasel World.

  15. I write most of my posts in St**b**ks. I sit with bucket of cooling coffee and absorb human nature, a happy hour or more each time enlivened by all the interactions (and the passing pulchritude) (summer fashions … aaaah~!).

I sense a kindred spirit, so later on I’ll explore your writings — right now I’m showering myself with white paint (back porch/deck) much to the delight of The Spouse (finally getting it done) and the chagrin of said Spouse (for obvious reasons) … I think I’m ahead on points but only just.

    • Haha! Yes, a fellow coffee lover!! Of course please do feel free to peruse my writings! I hope you like what you will read. I enjoy making new blogging connections, and avidly encourage all my readers to leave me their thoughts, opinions and general queries. So, don’t be a stranger!

      Bex 🙂

P.S: hoping your spouse will be pleased with your painting, thus gaining you more points!!

  16. I’ve learn a few excellent stuff here. Certainly price bookmarking for revisiting. I surprise how a lot effort you set to make the sort of great informative web site.

        • Hi Julien, thanks that is a lovely compliment. I want to just express who I feel I am, and what I believe.
I hope never to be contrived. Ah, well Madrid is a great, but hectic city, like any Capital.
I enjoy it here as it is a city full of life and everyday brings something different.
It has tourists, but they blend well with the local people going about their everyday business, which is great!
I feel comfortable here, it is my new home! You should definitely visit Spain, it is a very diverse nation!

          • That is a fantastic thing to have found a comfortable place which feels like home.

As for me, I left Romania when I was 18. I have had my base in Stockholm ever since, travelled quite a lot, but I confess that apart from beginning to feel home inside of me, I haven´t yet found that outer place which feels wholly ” home”.

          • Maybe where ever you are at one moment can be home? Every city or place I have ever been, I confess, always feels like home to me. I don’t like to settle for long, but then I always have felt the urge to keep moving since I was a little girl! Not sure why!
I sincerely hope you too will find a place which will feel like home.
If that is important to you, I am certain you will one day. It is the search in life that keeps us going on and ever forward; so never stop trying to find ‘home’.

          • As you say, “home” is above all, inside. A feeling of being one with yourself wherever you are. There are places though that resonate more with you – i know that from experience.

You say “I always have felt the urge to keep moving since I was a little girl! Not sure why!”
There is maybe some kind of gypsy soul within you. There is one inside of me anyway. A thrist to discover, to uncover, yes, TO CELEBRATE LIFE…

For sure ” search in life that keeps us going on and ever forward” but sometimes – as i experience now – it is a relief to take a break from searching, and lovingly be with whatever it is for the moment…

I see you drink coffee. I can´t live without going out, watch people and take my coffee.

So I will take a coffee now, pretending that you join me in real life 🙂

          • Yes, I get that with some places, it is almost sometimes like they pull you to them.
It is strange, but you know when something or somewhere is right for you!
Of course, I’d like to believe that of myself. It is the notion of that rambling freedom, its quite appealing!
Me gusta el café muchísimo, es mi favorito. I know I drink far too much of it, but there is nothing better to fuel the day.
The cafe culture is something I adore, here in Madrid it is great. Time out to mull and relax, nothing better.
OK, sure thing; I’ll drink to that 🙂

  17. Hi Bex. I dropped by to visit your blog because you left two very thoughtful and gracious comments on my blog. Thank you for taking the time to visit, and I noticed you listed me on your blogroll, as well–that is so kind.

I’ve never been to Wales (would love to though), but I visited Barcelona for two days last year on my way to Greece and Italy. I really want to visit Madrid (hope it survives the turmoil that is happening now) because all the pictures of the city are so gorgeous.

Thanks again and all the best with your blog.

    • Hi Dalai Mama,
Many thanks for stopping by my blog! Thank you also for the response and kind feedback on my comments, much appreciated.
I enjoyed your blog immensely, and will return! My pleasure to add you to my blog roll, I think your articles are FAB!!!!

Wales is very lovely, I do miss the greenery, scenery and mountains, as Madrid, although beautiful is too sunny most of the year
for lush landscapes! You should visit Wales and Madrid, I would highly recommend them to you. Barcelona is a lovely city too though,
I love it there. I have never visited NYC, I always wanted to, but my travels only took me to Chicago, Tennessee and New Orleans.

Thank you for the best wishes. I have just begun blogging, but I love it so far!
